Grey Rock Quad and Laramie Double May 17th and 25th, 2008

On May 17th Terry, Pete, Alex, and I set out to attempt the first annual Grey Rock Quad run. This consisted of four laps of the Grey Rock Meadow and Summit trails, 7.5miles each and approx 2800ft of gain/loss per lap. All was going smoothly the first lap, but while coming down #2 Pete took a nasty spill and had to sit out half of #3. Terry and I again met up with Pete for the forth and final lap. This would prove to be my toughest lap by far, as I crashed and burned half way up. Terry and I officially finished the Grey Rock Quad after 8:45. The following weekend Chris, Peter, Kristen and I camped out at Vedauwoo Saturday night before the Laramie Double Marathon on Sunday morning. We met Pete, Shana, and Lorae at the start line at 6am. The race course left much to be desired, and the aid stations were meager at best. Pete edged me out with 4miles to go as he finished in 3rd place (8:48), I finished in 8:53, a new 50miler PR and a new marathon PR of 4:05 for the first half of the race. Then came the night time shenanegans back in camp at Vedauwoo, a beautiful setting to unwind and have a few beers.
